Trout’s Set in its own extensive grounds and surrounded by land designated an area of outstanding natural beauty and of site of special scientific interest. Situated on the south coast commanding a magnificent panorama of Start Bay, Start Lighthouse and the rolling hills with their patchwork of fields. Below Trout's, nestling under the cliffs, are the ruins of the old Hallsands village destroyed earlier in the last century, a haunting story brought to life by the many pictures of the area.
Delightful gardens surround the complex. Within the 7 acres of grounds are an all weather tennis court, a 9-hole putting green, a golf drive practise net a heated outdoor swimming pool and an adventure playground. There is also a games room in the barn with table tennis, pool, darts, table football and a sectioned area especially for younger children well equipped with toys and games. All this makes Trout’s the ideal place to relax and enjoy the comfort and hospitality we have to offer. All the apartments and the cottage have spectacular views of the sea and countryside. Also within easy reach are the picturesque towns of Kingsbridge, Salcombe, Dartmouth and Totnes as well as the rugged wilds of Dartmoor and the hustle and bustle of Plymouth.

Trout's Servery and Tea Garden is open seasonally and provides lunches, cream teas, ice cream, drinks and evening meals.
